Why do stents cause some kidney stone patients pain?

It's a common procedure to remove kidney stones and temporarily place a stent in the ureter to ensure that another blockage doesnn't occur while the body is healing. Some patients don't feel the stent at all, but others experience intense pain.  Jonathan Harper, chief of endourology and minimally invasive surgery at UW Medical Center, explains research that aims to understand who would be at risk to experience this pain.
