WA state considering insulin price cap as costs soar
More than 25% of diabetics in the United States are rationing their insulin supply because of costs, a recent study found. Type 1 diabetics need the medication to survive.
"When I have patients telling me they’re paying more for their insulin than their mortgage, you know there’s a problem," says Dr. Irl Hirsch, a UW Medicine endocrinologist who sees this first-hand.
Today Washington state legislators are considering a bill that would help alleviate this problem. See related blog post.
