Keeping a positive mentality amid long COVID-19 symptoms

Demand for care at UW Medicine's Post-COVID Rehabilitation and Recovery Clinic has risen steadily since the clinic's founding in May 2020. These days, staff are managing about 40 new patients per week.

Dr. Janna Friedly is the clinic's executive director. She experienced long COVID-19's effects firsthand after a mild case of the virus last year.

"A lot of what I see is that people are really anxious because they don't understand it, and they don't know why they're experiencing the symptoms," said Friedly. "A lot of what we do is education, and really helping people to develop strategies that work for them in their lives."
