Enzyme mutation linked to some cases of SIDS

SIDS, or sudden infant death syndrome, can devastate families and leave them questioning what went wrong. There are multiple causes for SIDS. Hannele Ruohola-Baker and her lab at the UW Medicine Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine discovered a genetic link to a form of SIDS.

While more research needs to be done, she said,  "We hope in the future we can treat the children for the real cause."
