Adolescents get COVID-19 vaccine at Harborview
A UW Medicine clinic today administered its first COVID-19 vaccine injections to 12- to 15-year-olds. A group of adolescents, primarily composed of clinicians' children, queued up at Harborview Medical Center.
"It's exciting that we're here. It's all coming so soon – sooner than i thought it would be," said Lidet Becker, 15. "I'm excited that things are getting back to more normal."
Studies of vaccinations in children of this age range have shown "tremendous efficacy, with really no serious side effects," said Dr. Shireesha Dhanireddy, an infectious diseases specialist at UW Medicine.
