UW Medicine administers 100,000th COVID-19 vaccine dose

It's a major milestone: UW Medicine caregivers have administered 100,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses.

"We’ve been working for months to make this happen and there’s people behind the scenes and on the scene at the vaccine clinics at Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center, and Valley Medical Center," says Cynthia Dold, associate vice president of clinical operations at UW Medicine. "I’m just so proud of our collective team."

Wanda Herndon, the patient who received that dose, said she felt a sense of gratitude and encourages others who are eligible to get the vaccine, too.

Much work remains, Dold said. UW Medicine and partner agencies are working to improve vaccine access among communities of color and people with limited English proficiency. Those outreach efforts include a pop-up clinic and a mobile vaccination team.
