It's Halloween week! Kids are in high spirits, eager for the night of trick-or-treating that fills their bags, buckets and pillowcases with candy.  And every year, parents try to control the inevitable sugar rushes and crashes that follow.

“In my case, the kiddos eat candy and suddenly they have a lot of energy; they are on a sugar high,” said UW Medicine gastroenterologist Dr. Chris Damman. He's an expert on the gut microbiome and how it relates to the rest of your body.

Damman offers information and strategies to manage parents' concerns about rapid, heavy sugar consumption. Download broadcast-ready soundbites and related multimedia with Damman.
