Sugar is culprit in obesity's rise
Globally, 2 billion people are overweight. Obesity is strongly influenced by the amount of sugar we consume in our daily diets, says Dr. Judy Chen of the UW Medicine Weight Loss Management Center.
The average American consumes about 19.5 teaspoons of sugar per day, most of it somewhat hidden as fructose corn syrup in common foods.
