Study to evaluate COVID-19 vaccines' strength

A new study involving researchers from UW Medicine, Seattle Children's and the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research in Portland, Oregon, aims to shed light on the spread of COVID-19 in the region and how well vaccines protect against the virus over time.

“We hope that we can answer some important questions: particularly in the younger kids, about how well does the vaccine protect? How long does the protection last? What does it look like when you get a breakthrough infection when you've been vaccinated, and boosted, and boosted again,” said Dr. Helen Y. Chu, an associate professor of medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine and a co-leader of the CASCADIA study.

Researchers seek to recruit 3,500 children and adults in the Pacific Northwest to take part in the study. Participants can range in age from 6 months to 49 years.
