Segment: Helping Olympians gauge their fitness
Special Olympics competitors in Seattle had a chance to gauge their flexibility, balance, aerobic conditioning and strength during a "Fun Fitness" event put on by physical-therapy trainees at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
"My hope is that we can make the students better providers," said Laura Johnstone, a UW Medicine physical therapist and teaching associate. "What we see as being kind of abnormal is not abnormal. (The athletes) are people and they're part of our community," Johnstone said.
She discusses the topic in this downloadable video segment.
