Dozens of army and medical personnel gathered at Harborview Medical Center this fall to take part in a simulation of trauma care at UW Medicine’s WWAMI Institute for Simulation in Healthcare (WISH).

The Army Military Civilian Trauma Team Training Program is intended to improve the operating-room and resuscitation skills of active-duty surgeons. The program embeds military medical personnel with Level I trauma centers in the United States to get exposure to injuries that more closely resemble those treated in a combat environment.

The surgeons at Harborview were from the 250th Forward Resuscitative Surgical Team based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
