Hands-on lessons help teens understand diabetes risks

Type 2 diabetes is traditionally diagnosed in people 45 and older, but incidence of the disease is growing among children and teens. According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than 30 million Americans are diabetic.

That has led a team with UW Medicine's Genome Sciences Outreach Program to create a classroom course that aims to teach students how they can prevent the disease.
