Halloween's not canceled, but it won't be the same

"Can we go trick-or-treating this year?" Dr. Gaetan Habekoss, chief of the UW Neighborhood Ravenna Clinic, says he's been getting the question a lot.

The house-to-house candy-gathering activity is considered high-risk for transmitting COVID-19, and not recommended.  Habekoss suggests alternatives to such as hiding candy around the yard, a Halloween movie night, or a virtual costume contest.

"Rates are increasing nationally and this is a dangerous virus, which does not take holidays off, so we should not let our guard down," he says.

He continued to emphasize the importance of physical distancing, handwashing, and wearing a protective mask – even in tandem with a costume mask.
