COVID-19 survivor goes home after 50 days
Nastasia Xavier, 33, is finally going home to Pilot Station in southwest Alaska.
She was diagnosed with COVID-19 last November and, as her condition worsened, she was airlifted to Seattle. Xavier has received intensive care at UW Medical Center – Montlake in Seattle for 50 days, with some of those days on the brink of survival. Today she was well enough to be discharged from the hospital.
Her team, including the ICU nurses who first provided care, lined the hall to wish her a farewell. Xavier says she's most excited at the prospect of reuniting with her two daughters and other family.
