Avoid added sugar for babies, toddlers
New dietary guidelines state that children under age 2 should consume no food that has added sugars. Eliza Lagerquist, dietitian at UW Medical Center – Montlake's neonatal intensive care unit, says this doesn't mean no sugar at all. And it doesn't mean you have to make everything from scratch. Instead, the guidance is aimed at getting parents to consider healthier options when buying groceries and to be mindful that sugars are added to many foods that have "healthy" reputations.
