Abortion care access has patients, doctors looking west

Patients from other states are traveling to western Washington to access abortion care, and clinicians in states where abortion has been made illegal also exploring career opportunities in Washington, says Dr. Sarah Prager, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Washington School of Medicine.

"We're definitely getting some people who are interested in seeing what their options would be at UW Medicine or elsewhere in Washington state," she said. "We are seeing physicians — not just OB-GYNs or emergency physicians or family medicine physicians, all of whom see pregnant patients more frequently — but all physicians are really rethinking staying in states where abortion is illegal."

In a blog post, Prager outlines the availability of mifepristone and access to abortion care.
