UW Medicine partners with 98point6 for virtual care

UW Medicine has begun offering on-demand, text-based virtual care for its patients in collaboration with 98point6®. The service replaces the Amwell virtual clinic that UW Medicine has utilized for the past year and a half. Patients will still have access to the telehealth platform used to talk directly with their UW Medicine primary- and specialty-care providers.
Made possible through a partnership with 98point6, UW Medicine On-Demand Virtual Care subscription service delivers text-based medical care from board-certified physicians to adult patients via a smartphone app. 98point6 enables patients to receive on-demand diagnosis and treatment in any context – all through the convenience of private and secure in-application messaging. Information about these visits will be sent to UW Medicine to be included in the patient’s electronic medical record to better coordinate that individual’s care.
“We listened to patients and heard that they want a simpler, more accessible way of getting their medical concerns addressed. We’re confident that this new collaboration offers the safe and convenient care that they seek,” said Dr. John Scott, medical director, UW Medicine Digital Health.
The service will be offered to all UW Medicine patients through an introductory price of $30 for the first three months (and $1 fee per visit), followed by a yearly subscription of $120 (and $1 fee per visit). This subscription affords unlimited access to 98point6 physicians, who can diagnose and provide treatment, outline care options, order prescriptions and labs, and offer personalized consultation. Patients who subscribe agree to allow their 98point6 visit information to be shared with their UW Medicine care team and to receive referrals as needed.
“This service extends the reach of physicians and allows them to focus on their highest value activity – spending time treating patients,” said Scott. “98point6 was recommended to us by the physicians at Seattle Children’s and our sister hospital Valley Medical Center.”
