Soundbites: Alzheimer’s disease and dementia

Retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor announced Tuesday that she has been diagnosed with “the beginning stages of dementia, probably Alzheimer’s.” 

Currently no cure exists for the slow-progressing disease, but treatments can temporarily delay the worsening of symptoms.  Dr. Thomas Grabowski, director of the UW Medicine Memory and Brain Wellness Center, discusses the stages of Alzheimer's and research being conducted to learn more about the condition.
