Text-while-driving risk is like 1.9% blood-alcohol level
Study outlines danger; UW approaches public-health issue from policy, technology standpoints

In Washington state's first study to examine driver use of electronic devices, UW investigators saw that more drivers were engaging with such devices behind the wheel than previously estimated. Data estimates that such drivers have a risk of crash equivalent to an blood-alcohol level of 1.9% -- more than double the legal (0.08%) limit.
