Public health stats ‘giant’ Norman Breslow dies at 74

UW scholar, mentor was key to advancing rigor of biomedical research

Dr. Norman E. Breslow, 74, who helped shape the modern field of biostatistics and had a nearly 50-year career at the University of Washington, died Dec. 9 after a long illness.

Brilliance and a sense of adventure characterized Dr. Breslow's work and life.  He was a scholar, mentor and scientist who significantly advanced the quality and rigor of biomedical research and public health.
