Hurdling last-mile obstacles to global health interventions

UW's Sherr leads the world's only Ph.D. program in implementation science

Kenny Sherr heads the world’s only Ph.D. program in implementation science, based in the University of Washington's Department of Global Health.

“It’s all about taking the science that we know works (from successful clinical trials, for instance) and putting it into effect at a national level – or at a regional level as part of a national plan – in low- and middle-income countries,” he said. “Right now, it takes about 17 years to scale up the typical public health or clinical intervention.”
