Chronic kidney disease diagnosis in elderly dubious
Doctors are asking if diagnostic criteria should be recalibrated by age

Doctors are questioning whether half the population over age 70 truly have serious kidney disease. International guidelines are based on measurements that might not coincide with the risk of subsequent kidney failure in the elderly, according to an article in the New Old Age section of The New York Times.
Dr. Ann O’Hare, a UW Medicine nephrologist who specializes in treating older adults, is quoted.
