‘Stop the Bleed’ trains public to respond in emergencies

Harborview trauma docs lead local effort in national movement

A person with a serious injury can bleed to death in three or four minutes. That reality has given rise to a national movement called "Stop the Bleed" in which public citizens are trained to stop severe bleeding that might stem from a car accident or shooting.

More than 100 people learned to use tourniquets and pack wounds at Harborview Medical Center recently, in the first such classes hosted at the UW Medicine hospital.
