Study: Many older adults don't safely store guns

A study conducted in Washington state asked adults over 65 whether they had firearms at home – and if so, how those firearms were stored – and separately, whether the adult experienced depression or memory loss.  The finding: About one-third of older adults did not safely store firearms, posing a risk to themselves and others.

Dr. Fred Rivara, co-founder of Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center, says the results show the importance of talking with seniors about access to firearms.
