Soundbites: Who should get the new shingles vaccine?

Shingles is a viral infection that can result in a painful rash and, in some cases, lasting nerve damage. A new vaccine will be available soon, and primary-care clinicians are encouraging older adults to get it, even if they’ve already received the old shingles vaccine. Dr. Seth Cohen, chief of UW Medicine’s Infectious Disease and Travel Clinics, discusses why it’s important for adults 50 or older to be vaccinated.
