Soundbites: Providing care for transgender patients

A recent study published in the Annals of Family Medicine found that a majority of physicians are willing to provide routine care for transgender patients, but they just don't know how.

Corinne Heinen is the physician lead for UW Medicine's Transgender and Gender Non-Binary program, which aims to address the healthcare disparities for this community by creating a patient-centered and gender-affirming environment. She discusses the program in the  video.

Also speaking on how healthcare and clinician/patient communication for transgender patients can be improved is volunteeer community advocate and UW Medicine Northwest Hospital patient E.S. Hawk Brandon.
