Pregnant patients at higher risk of dying from COVID-19
The rate of pregnant patients who die from COVID-19 infection is 13 times higher than that of those in the same age group. Dr. Kristina Adams Waldorf, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, says the data they found was surprising, and alarmingly high.
"I think we’re all getting really tired of the pandemic and it’s so easy to have pandemic fatigue and let our guard down. We still need to be really careful about how large our bubble is within our families, to be very careful about handwashing and mask use, and to do everything that we can until enough of the population is vaccinated that we have herd immunity in the United States."
