A new prep option for patients getting ready to go a colonoscopy calls for a regimen of pills, instead of drinking a liquid solution.
“It's significantly less time and torture from drinking the liquid bowel prep over a long period of time,” said Dr. Jennifer Ray, an assistant professor of gastroenterology at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
The pill-based preparation requires 12 pills to be taken the day before the procedure, followed by 12 more pills on the morning of the colonoscopy.
