Heather Tick, a professor of anesthesiology and pain medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine, is the lead author of a consortium pain task force white paper calling for a reform in pain treatment to elevate acupuncture, massage, tai chi, yoga, therapeutic touch, mindfulness and other nonpharmacological options. Tick also addresses the importance of a diet that reduces inflammation.
