UW-created phone app can detect concussions

PupilScreen detects very small differences in someone's pupil and provides almost instant results.

The PupilScreen smartphone app is used with a patient.
"The app is able to be a lot more accurate and detect more subtle changes than the human eye can, even that of a practiced clinician," said Dr. Lynn McGrath, a UW Medicine neurological surgery resident. He was involved in the software's development with collaborators from computer scientists and electrical engineers at the University of Washington.
