UW-created phone app can detect concussions

December 8, 2017

PupilScreen detects very small differences in someone's pupil and provides almost instant results.

"The app is able to be a lot more accurate and detect more subtle changes than the human eye can, even that of a practiced clinician," said Dr. Lynn McGrath, a UW Medicine neurological surgery resident. He was involved in the software's development with collaborators from computer scientists and electrical engineers at the University of Washington.
