Op-ed: Schools need to be prepared for sudden cardiac arrest

August 2, 2018

Schools need to develop emergency plans which include the use and availability of an AED, or automated external defibrillators.

In this op-ed, Dr. Jonathan Drezner, talks about the importance of having an AED at a sports event, in case one of the students suffers sudden cardiac arrest. In 2013, notes Drezner, the state legislature required all schools have AEDs, but did not provide the funding for the devices.
